Township Cemetery Named County Landmark

A historic Wheatland Township landmark is getting some overdue recognition.
The township cemetery on 104th Street between Book and Naper/Plainfield roads in unincorporated Naperville was officially recognized Feb. 17 as a historical site by Will County.
The dedication was attended by a small group but the energy and enthusiasm was vast.
The county presented a bronze plaque to the township, which reads, “Circa 1836 Wheatland Cemetery. This property has been designated a Will County Historic Landmark, Feb. 17, 2011. Will County Historic Preservation and the Will County Board.”
Wheatland Township's Future Plans
The Wheatland Township Offices hope to relocating in the not too distant future. Most residents probably have not visited our current location. This office is located in the far northest corner of the Township in an unincorporated industrial park - just north on 91st Street and west of Route 59!
Did you know all the Township's offices are actually housed in a garage truck bay? No wonder, since the building was built in the fall of 1977 and intended for only the Township's Highway Department. This has added additional pressures on all the offices, especially the Assessor's Office.

Wheatland Township Building
Below are some pictures of the current Wheatland Township Building located in the Wheatland Industrial Park at 31W236 91st Street in an unincorporated portion of Naperville. Residents of the township are invited to stop by the Township Office during working hours (M-F from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) for a tour.
