Supervisor Michael Crowner

Michael began his term in May 2021. He is a career financial services professional and currently works as a Loan Specialist in the mortgage industry. He started his career in investment banking advising government entities and elected officials. It was this experience that sparked Michael’s interest in serving in government. He has an MBA in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University.

In addition to his role as Supervisor, Michael serves on the Governing Council for the Will County Community Health Center and is a Board Member for the Will County Community Development Block Grant / HOME Advisory Board. A resident of Will County since 2004, Michael currently resides in unincorporated Plainfield with his wife, two daughters, and dog.

What does the Supervisor do?

The Township Supervisor serves as Chief Executive Officer of the township. The Supervisor’s duties and responsibilities include serving as Chairman of the Township Board of Trustees, Supervisor of the General Assistance program, and Treasurer of all Town funds including General Assistance and Road and Bridge funds.

Thirty days before adoption of the Budget and Appropriation Ordinance for the township, the Supervisor submits to the township Board of Trustees a tentative budget. The proposed budget is then available for public inspection and review for 30 days before final action.

The Supervisor may make or second motions, participate in all legislative discussion, and exercises voting power on all issues before the Board.

The Township Supervisor maintains sole jurisdiction over the General Assistance office.
